At Lister House Dental Centre we accommodate for patients requiring urgent attention i.e. severe dental pain, swollen face, dental abscess, trauma, broken tooth.
For out of hours contact please call NHS 111 for self care advice at the very least. The accident and emergency service at the local hospital, Princess Alexandra, will be the best port of call if you:
- Are in severe dental pain not being eased by painkillers
- Are bleeding non-stop from mouth (i.e. tooth extraction site)
- Have trauma of the face/mouth/teeth after a recent accident/injury
There are three bands of charges for all NHS dental treatments. More information regarding NHS dental treatments can be found on the NHS website.
This covers an examination, diagnosis (including X-rays), advice on how to prevent future problems, a scale and polish if clinically needed, and preventative care such as the application of fluoride varnish or fissure sealant if appropriate.
This covers emergency care in a primary care NHS dental practice such as pain relief or a temporary filling.
This covers everything listed in Band 1 above, plus any further treatment such as fillings, root canal work or removal of teeth but not more complex items covered by Band 3.
This covers everything listed in Bands 1 and 2 above, plus crowns, dentures, bridges and other laboratory work.
